Making presentations was always a challenge for me at school because of my stutter. It gets annoying because I want to speak but am unable to during presentation and group discussions and answering questions. I had speech therapy at another centre at 11 years of age but didn’t find it helpful.

My mother was concerned about my talking and wanted me to start speech therapy again at 13 years old. I was angry because I thought it was unfair that I had to have a stutter and that other people were normal, but I decided to give therapy another chance. This time I met Gwyneth from A Million Things to Say.

The place was nice and friendly looking. When I met Gwyneth, she reflected the personality of the clinic. As I went through therapy, I felt that I could speak properly and that I knew how to control the stuttering. It’s hard work but at the same time fun. I became less angry when I realised that therapy worked for me and made sense unlike the previous therapy. A couple of times, we went to Bedok Mall to test out the strategies, and it was very helpful because I learnt how to use strategies in other situations, in other locations and with different people.
Now I can present fluently with more confidence and talk more freely. Thank you for helping me!
